Spybot Search and Destroy

Certainly one of the 'best' free tools around, spybot will search, find and allow you to destroy many trojans and registry issues.    In addition, we recommend that spybot run constantly to inform users when the registry may be updated.   Many trojans modify registry settings in order for them to function properly.   By notifying users you can become aware of what websites and programs are affecting the behavior of the computer.  In addition, spybot can be updated with the latest problem resolving knowledge so that it doesn't go out of date.    Finally, you can create backups and recover from spybot's operations if you desire.  Truly one of the finest software components available.   Download


CWShredder - Coolwebsearch trojan remover

Another excellent tool to specifically clean search trojans is CWShredder.  The tool can be run in scan mode to predict what problems might be addressed.  After you've scanned your computer, you close your browsers and run CWShreeder to fix any problems it found.  In addition, the tool can update itself to fix new variants of different trojans.  Download


HijackThis - Internet Explorer Home page Hijack Fix

For those that have their default home page hijacked, a very good tool to clean up and protect your computer is HijackThis. The tool will securely search for trojan/virus problems that occur at startup and change the home page.  In addition, it will search and fix registry settings that have been corrupted without you having to change the registry settings.  Finally, when running HijackThis, be sure to only delete those things you suspect are problematic.  You don't want to delete your anti-virus programs or the google search bar, but you should be able to identify those before fixing.  Donwload
